Comfortaire® wood foundations provide an ideal base for our mattresses. Each joint in the Comfortaire Stratus™ is glued to reduce noise, then fastened with two (2) screw nails to assure reliable, long life. Our unique design features 8 support slats that run vertically instead of the traditional horizontal slat foundation. This design provides better surface support because the support runs with instead of across your body. Two (2) horizontal center rails which rest on the bed frame assure greater durability and resist sagging over time.
A word on box springs.
We never recommend using a box spring foundation because springs can weaken, dip, and sag over time. Using a faulty box spring could affect the longevity of the product and may even affect your warranty. However, if your current foundation is in good shape - no sags, squeaks, or cracks - you can use it with your new Comfortaire mattress

No more saggingReview by Julie (on 7/24/2013)
Comfort Value Quality Meets ExpectationsMy husband bought this and I don't like that this foundation is wood, but I'll admit it's miles better than a box spring. No sagging so far, but I really wish it had storage space underneath.
